Two-track, two-and-a-half-track and three-track sliders

Two-track

Two sashes run on two tracks and slide past each other. At most half the width is open at a time.

Three-track

Three sashes on three tracks. One track can carry a mesh shutter instead of glass, so you can keep insects out with the glass open.

Two-and-a-half-track

Two glass sashes on two full tracks, with a narrower third track for a mesh shutter. It keeps the mesh option of a three-track frame in a slimmer frame.

Where sliding windows suit

  • Openings onto balconies and terraces
  • Rooms where furniture sits close to the window
  • Wide openings where you want large panes of glass

Things to consider

  • A two-track slider opens to about half its width; choose casement if you want the full opening clear.
  • Tracks collect dust and should be wiped clean from time to time.
  • Mesh can be added as a separate track or as pleated mesh.

Questions

Can I have a mesh on a sliding window?

Yes. Either a mesh shutter on its own track or pleated mesh. We advise on the better option for your opening.

How are sliding windows measured?

We measure each opening on site. For new construction, final measurements are best taken once the openings are finished. See how installation works.

Should I choose uPVC or aluminium for a sliding window?

Both work. Aluminium is often chosen for very large or slim sliding openings; uPVC for well-sealed windows in homes. Compare aluminium.
